Our Military Service Members
With the help of supporters like you, Illinois True Hero, in partnership with Helping a Hero.org, is raising $100,000 to build a customized home in Illinois for a severely wounded veteran of the Iraq or Afghanistan war. An additional $50,000 toward the lot and a $50,000 builder donation will be combined with the veteran's $50,000 investment. The home is titled in the name of the service member.
A large percentage of wounded service members are surviving their injuries, many of which are head and limb. Modern armor and rapid care mean most of the injured survive. But this also means that many live with traumatic brain injuries and amputations, as well as, the need for specially adapted homes designed to accommodate their physical challenges.
